DANIELS, W.Va. -- Notre Dame College grabbed a three-shot lead after the first round of the Mountain East Conference Women's Golf Championship on Sunday afternoon at The Resort at Glade Springs.
The Falcons shot a first round total of 326, three shots ahead of West Virginia Wesleyan (329) and four shots better than Wheeling Jesuit (330). Concord stands in fourth with a score of 353, followed by West Liberty (359), Charleston (360), Urbana (365), UVa-Wise (385) and Glenville State (392).
Wheeling Jesuit sophomore Kasey Frazier finished strong with an eagle and a birdie in her final three holes to finish with an even par 72 to lead the individual competition. NDC's Brittany Damper and WVWC's Kayla Linger each carded 76s to tie for second after 18 holes. Concord's Steph Pereath was even par through 14 holes before running into trouble down the stretch and finished with a 78, as did the Bobcats' Becky Gossard.
The championship continues tomorrow morning with the second round beginning at 9:20 a.m., and will conclude on Tuesday.
