Shepherd advanced to the Mountain East Conference semifinals with a 3-0 win over Charleston. The Rams won 25-13, 25-23, 25-15.

SU (18-12) advances to the semifinals tomorrow at 5 p.m. The Rams were led by Valerie Bour's 13 kills, and Kayleigh Helgesen added nine and Kayla Motheral contributed eight. Taylor Belella led the offense with 35 assists

Charleston ends its season with a record of 9-19. Clairissa Larry had seven kills to lead the Golden Eagles. 

Shepherd got out to a quick start winning the first set 25-13. The Golden Eagles got back on track in the second set and led 20-18, but a service error and a hitting error, followed by an ace and a kill for McKensie Milam and a kill by Bour put the Rams back on track. UC was able to fight off three set points before Bour's kill gave SU the 25-23 victory. Shepherd then hit .467 in the final set with 15 kills and just one error to clinch the match, 25-15.

Postgame Press Conference: Fairmont State | West Liberty

Fairmont State survived West Liberty’s upset bid and downed in five sets in the quarterfinals of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. The Falcons won by set scores of 25-14, 24-26, 25-19, 22-25 and 15-7.

The Falcons (23-6) move on to take on Shepherd in tomorrow’s semifinal match at 5 p.m. The Hilltoppers conclude their season with a record of 11-19.
 
Fairmont State was led by freshman Mackenzie Harrison who had 19 kills, 18 digs and five blocks. Erin Harwood had 15 kills, and Courtney Kress added 13. Tabbie Bias had 57 assists to help Fairmont State hit .322 in the match, and Tiff Smathers had 21 digs.
 
West Liberty was led by Nicole Sadecky’s 14 kills and 19 digs. Chelsea Bertie added 10 kills and Chelsea Byrge had 40 assists and 14 digs. Courtney Pyeritz led all players with 30 digs.
 
Fairmont State got out to a quick start winning the first set hammering home 19 kills against just three errors and winning 25-14. Facing set point in the second set down 24-23, West Liberty took advantage of a service error, then got an ace of its own from Miranda Garmenn, and then an FSU hitting error completed the comeback and gave the ‘Toppers the 26-24 victory.
 
The Falcons got back in the third set after building a 20-12 lead and finished with the 25-19 win. In the fourth set, West Liberty went ahead 17-11, but the Falcons fought back to get to within a point at 20-19 after a WLU attack error. The ‘Toppers regained the momentum and closed out the set on Sadecky’s kill.
 
Tied at 6-6 in the pivotal fifth set, FSU scored seven-straight points to pull away and finished the set, 15-7, to claim the match.

West Virginia Wesleyan earned narrow victories in its first two sets on its way to a 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 25-18) victory over Urbana on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. 

The Bobcats (11-12) advance to the semifinals tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. Urbana's season ends with a record of 13-17.

Erin Bond led WVWC with 16 kills and six blocks. Hannah King and Lindsay Caldwell each had 11 kills, and Stacie Baumann added 10. Paulina Nottingham had 44 assists and five service aces on the night.

Urbana was paced by MEC Freshman of the Year Katlynn Dunlap's 15 kills. Katlin Kremer had 14 kills and hit .522 in the match, and Mary Hendricks had 43 assists. Kelsey Volkmer contributed 10 kills and a team-best 14 digs. 

The first set saw eight ties and was knotted at 23-23, but the Bobcats finished the set with a kill from Bond and an ace from Nottingham. The second set was nearly as close with six ties and three lead changes, and once again WVWC was able pull it out down the stretch, breaking a 17-17 tie with five-straight points. Urbana never trailed in set three hammering down 16 kills with just two errors and hitting .519. West Virginia Wesleyan turned the tables in the final set on its way to the victory.

: Concord | Wheeling Jesuit

Wheeling Jesuit advanced to the semifinals of the Mountain East Conference Tournament with a convincing 3-0 (25-13, 25-27, 25-14) victory over Concord. WJU advances to take on West Virginia Wesleyan in the semifinals tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. 

The Cardinals stretched their winning streak to 13 matches and improved their record to 33-3. Concord finishes the season with a record of 18-14.

The Cards committed just eight errors in the match and hit .294. Haley Kindall had 10 kills, and Andrea Thobe had 26 assists and Mackenzie Ripley led the team with 13 digs. 

Sarah Jones led CU with seven kills and 12 digs.
