WHEELING, W.Va. -- Charleston advanced to the MEC Tournament Semifinals with a 3-1 win over West Liberty, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22.
The Golden Eagles (20-10) were led by 17 kills and 20 digs from Shiann White. Randi Estrada added 14 kills and Payton Logan contributed 12 kills and 10 digs. Melissa Reyes led UC with 29 assists and Claire Lambert added 22.
MEC Freshman of the Year Stephanie Leonard had 13 kills and 14 digs for West Liberty (15-18). Sydney Scherer added 11 kills, and Raimey Benson and Alexis Boyd each recorded 10. Boyd also contributed a team-best 24 digs for WLU, and Courtney Pyeritz had 15.
The match was statistically very even with UC having a slight edge in kills (62-56) and both teams coming up with 76 digs.

WHEELING, W.Va. -- Fairmont State held off Urbana, 3-1, on Thursday afternoon in the MEC Tournament Quarterfinals. The Falcons advance to play Charleston in the MEC Tournament Semifinals tomorrow night at 5 p.m.
The Falcons (24-7) had four players with double-digit kills, led by Mackenzie Harrison who notched 15 without an error. Kaitlyn Witsaman put away 14, Courtney Kress had 12 and Erin Harwood added 11. Jessica Furda directed the offense with 52 assists on FSU's 61 kills on the match as the Falcons hit .310.
Urbana (13-17) were led by Katlynn Dunlap's 17 kills and 11 digs. Madison Davis had 15 kills and Aleese Butler and Megan Verhoff had 10 apiece. Mary Hendricks had 51 assists for the Blue Knights.
Fairmont State had to overcome deficits in each of the four sets, including 18-14 in the fourth set. The Falcons were able to rattle off 11 points of the next 14 points to win the set and match.
#5 Shepherd def. #4 UVa-Wise, 3-2 (27-25, 23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11) | Final Stats
WHEELING, W.Va. -- Shepherd outlasted UVa-Wise in a thrilling five-set match in the MEC Quarterfinals.
The Rams had to rally from a 2-1 deficit to come away with the win, 27-25, 23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11). SU also came back from a 7-3 deficit in the fifth set.
Grace Simmons and Sophie Foster each hammered home 13 kills for the Rams (16-16). Samantha Scroggins added 10 kills. Four players had double-digit kills with Cyera Dixon (17), Kelsey Anderson (15), Scroggins (14) and Allison Crumling (11). Foster had a game-high 10 blocks.
Karley Allen had a huge game for UVa-Wise (15-17) with 25 kills and 23 digs. Amanda Auxier added 16 kills and Erin Anderson chipped in 21 digs. Chandler Rouse dished out 54 assists for the Cavs.
#1 Wheeling Jesuit def. #8 West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0 | Final Stats
WHEELING, W.Va. -- Top-seeded Wheeling Jesuit rolled past West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-12) on Saturday night in the MEC Tournament Quarterfinals.
The Cardinals (31-4) were led by 11 kills and no errors from Haley Kindall and Sydney Obringer added eight. Andrea Thobe had 37 assists hit a stellar .391 in the match and had 12 blocks.
West Virginia Wesleyan (12-19) was led by 11 kills from Stacie Baumann. Paulina Nottingham had 16 assists and Hannah Moore added 11 digs.
