Golden Eagles Claim Third-Straight MEC Tournament Title

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston won its third-straight Mountain East Conference Men's Soccer Tournament title by downing Notre Dame College, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Schoenbaum Stadium.

The Golden Eagles broke through in an even game in the 71st minute after a foul was called on the Falcons just inside the 18-yard box drawing a penalty for UC. Will Roberts and slotted the shot past the NDC keeper to give Charleston the 1-0 lead. As Notre Dame pressed for the equalizer, Leighton Richards made it 2-0 in favor of UC after he finished a feed from Jermaine Windster.

UC will likely earn one of the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament when the full field is announced on Monday evening at 6 p.m on NCAA.com. Notre Dame College and Urbana will also be considered at-large berths.
