BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Liberty defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon to claim the 2015 Mountain East Conference Men's Tennis Tournament championship. The match had to be moved indoors due to weather at the Charleston Indoor Center.

WLU got off to a strong start taking a 2-1 lead after doubles winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Baptiste Perrin rolled in straight sets at No. 3 singles, and Pablo Cimora added a win for West Liberty at No. 6 singles. WVWC's Aitor Reparaz posted a win at No. 5 singles, but the match came down to No. 1 singles where WLU's Andrew Ponder downed MEC Player of the Year, 6-4, 6-4, to clinch the team title for the Hilltoppers.

The victory capped a season that saw the Hilltoppers also claim the MEC regular season championship as well. WLU currently sits second in the NCAA Atlantic Region, and will wait with several MEC schools to learn of its postseason fate in two weeks.
