BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Concord finished four runners in the top eight to help it to a second-straight Mountain East Conference men's cross country championship on Saturday at the Bridgeport Recreaction Complex.
Concord finished with 32 points as Jason Weitzel and Justin Snyder finished first and second in the race. Weitzel finished the 8,000 meter race with a time of 27:17 and was also named MEC Runner of the Year for his efforts in 2016. Tyler Kosut of CU took fifth, Michael Ruhnke was eighth and Brandon Lee rounded out the scoring for the Mountain Lions finishing 16th.
West Virginia Wesleyan was second in the meet with 38 points. The Bobcats had three in the top 10 led by Matt Dearth and Marcus Black in third and fourth, respectively, and Colin Wallace in seventh. Charleston took third with a team score of 57 as Kevin Charette and Max Allen posted top 10 finishes. Allen was also voted as the league's Freshman of the Year.
Wheeling Jesuit was fourth with 94 points led by a ninth-place finish by Jake Henley.
UVa-Wise was fifth (166), Fairmont State was sixth (187), Notre Dame was seventh (194), followed by Glenville State in eighth (199) and West Liberty in ninth (238).
Concord head coach Mike Cox was named the MEC Coach of the Year after directing the Mountain Lions to a second-straight MEC Championship.
