The two top seeds in the 2016 Mountain East Conference Men's Soccer Tournament advanced on Thursday with Charleston picking up a 4-1 win over West Virginia Wesleyan and Urbana earning a 1-0 win over Notre Dame. The Golden Eagles and Urbana will play on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Schoenbaum Stadium.
A goal in the first five minutes from Lewis Dunne stood up the rest of the way as the second-seeded Blue Knights earned their first win in MEC Tournament history. UU was able to limit the touches for Notre Dame's Leo Paiva, and Nathan Jones recorded four saves in the match.
The Bobcats grabbed an early lead against Charleston with a score from Conor Davies, but that lead would last less than two minutes as Patrick Guier scored the first of his two goals and the Golden Eagles added two more for the 4-1 win. Bruno Oliviera had a tally and Will Roberts tacked on one in the second half for UC. Paulo Pita made four saves for the Golden Eagles.
