BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- The field for the 2016 Mountain East Conference Softball Tournament is set after the conclusion of the regular season earlier today. 

Eight teams from the league (four from the North Division and four from the South Division) advance to compete at the tournament held this year at the Botetourt Sports Complex. Play begins this Friday, April 29, at noon. 

Charleston will be the top seed in the South Division after finishing conference play with a 29-3 record. West Virginia Wesleyan finished second in the South Division, followed by Concord and UVa-Wise. 

Shepherd will be the No. 1 seed in the North Division after posting a 24-7 record in MEC play. Wheeling Jesuit was second, followed by Fairmont State and Notre Dame.
