BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Liberty's Briella Taylor is the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Notre Dame's Samantha Shoemaker is the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Taylor, a sophomore from Wheeling, W.Va., helped the Hilltoppers to a 1-0-1 record last week. After a draw against Notre Dame, she scored a goal and an assist as WLU notched a 3-1 win over Shepherd. Taylor scored the opening goal with a 30-yard blast, and then assisted on the game-winner against the Rams.
Shoemaker, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, posted a pair of shutouts between the pipes for the Falcons last week. She made eight saves to help preserve a scoreless draw agaisnt West Liberty, and then added six more saves as NDC blanked Urbana.
Other Top Performances
Offense: Ida Garberg (UC) had an assist in each of Charleston's two games last week ... Katarina Doncevic (NDC) had the lone score in a win over Urbana ... Courtney Webb (FSU) scored her seventh goal of the season against Charleston ... Kayla Klock (WJU) notched her first tally of the season providing the game-winner against Findlay ... Megan Walsh (CU) had her third game-winner of the season against Urbana ... Marissa Zetty (WVWC) had a goal and an assist in a win over Wheeling Jesuit.
Defense: Chelsea Hubner (WVWC) added two more shutouts last week for the Bobcats ... Emily Simpkins (CU) contributed 12 saves in two games last week for the Mountain Lions ... Zoe Zyta (UC) piled up 15 saves to help preserve a tie against Ashland.
