Day 2: MEC Track & Field Championships

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Rain continued for the majority of competition, but all events were completed on Saturday at the MEC Track & Field Championships.

After two days, West Virginia Wesleyan leads on the women's side with 177.50 points. Wheeling Jesuit sits in a close second at 150.50 points. Charleston is in third with 50 points.

The Bobcats have a much more comfortable lead on the men's side with 137 points. Charleston is in second with 63 points, followed by Notre Dame in third with 48 points. 

Wheeling Jesuit's Anna Massa turned in a strong second day winning the heptathlon and the pole vault. Hayley Campbell also had a win for the Cardinals in the shot put and was second in the discus to teammate Lauren Dickerson. 

UC's Julia Onrubia and teammate Maitri Pansania finished first and second in the triple jump. West Virginia Wesleyan's Sydney Pineault successfully defender her title in the 3,000 meters steeplechase.

West Virginia Wesleyan's Dylan Rippeto doubled with wins in the discus and shot put, and teammate Alan Crise won the javelin. WVWC's Chad Longanacre won the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

Charleston's David Morales-Perez won the triple jump, and Notre Dame's Charles Astin defended his title in the high jump. Tyler Zahnow took home the title in the decathlon.

Competition concludes tomorrow from Buckhannon starting at 10 a.m.
